Thank you for your interest and support of Friends of UNFPA. We are dedicated to honoring the privacy and wishes of our supporters at all times. Because we share your concern about privacy, we are letting you know how we collect information about you, what information we collect, how we use the information, under what circumstances we disclose it, and what choices are available to you regarding such data collection. This Privacy Statement also covers information collected at test.friendsofunfpa.org. For simplicity, we will refer to it as “our site.”

Online Security and Privacy

Friends of UNFPA is grateful for the donations that help us continue our valuable work. Your online security and privacy are a high priority. The following measures are in place to ensure that your transactions on our website remain secure:

  1. Our website implements 128 bit Secured Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption for all donor personal information (including credit card information) transmitted to the web server. This is the standard level of encryption that large web retailers (i.e. Amazon, Barnes & Noble) use to protect their customer credit card information.
  2. Our website does not store any credit card information but transmits it using SSL to its credit card processor.
  3. The credit card processor that we use is Blackbaud Merchant Services which is a Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant vendor.

Use of Cookies

Friends of UNFPA uses “cookies” which are small files that allow us to store and sometimes track what you are looking at when you visit our sites. If you are concerned about the potential use of information gathered from your computer by “cookies,” you can set your browser to prompt you before it accepts a cookie. Most Internet browsers have settings that let you identify or reject cookies.

Collection and Use of Non-personal Information

If you do nothing during your visit but browse, read pages, or download information, our site’s operating system will automatically record the following information about your visit:

  1. The Internet domain for your Internet service, such as “xcompany.com” or “xcompany.net” if you use a private Internet access account, or “yourcollege.edu” if you connect from a college or university domain.
  2. The type of browser that you use, e.g., “American Online version 9” or “Microsoft Internet Explorer 10”.
  3. The type of operating system that you use, e.g., Windows or Macintosh.
  4. The date and time you visit our site, and the Web pages that you visit on our site.
  5. The address of the previous web site you visited, if you linked with us from another web site.

This information is used to help us diagnose technical problems as well as to help us track user interests. We gather this information in the aggregate—as a total, not linked to individual users—and we may share it with our sister affiliates, as well as with certain other reputable organizations that share our interests.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

You can visit test.friendsofunfpa.org without telling us who you are and without revealing any information about yourself. To complete online transactions, you will be asked for your address, email and credit card information. This required information is necessary for us to process transactions, protect you against credit card fraud and contact you to provide you with a gift receipt for tax purposes. We may also contact you with additional updates on how your gift is being utilized.

Friends of UNFPA engages third party vendors for purposes of solicitation, fulfillment and other consulting services. The contracts with these third party vendors include a strict confidentiality clause that prohibits use and disclosure of confidential information received or obtained during the performance of the agreements or in the course of providing such services, and carries damages, penalties and other injunctive remedies for a vendor’s violation of these confidentiality requirements. This policy pertains to information obtained online and offline.
